MAY 2
2011-Seal Team Six takes out Bin Laden.
… On May 2, founder and leader of al-Qaeda was watching TV in Pakistan when his doorbell rang. When Big Laden said who is it, the Seal Team Six pretended to be the pizza delivery, so Bin Laden opened the door. OK, so maybe that’s not really what happened. And normally I don’t celebrate people’s deaths, but this was a good one.

But don’t just take my word for it.

Many believe it was a good thing, including 90% of American public according to Pew and Gallup researchers. also the United Nations, NATO, the European Union and many others, according to Reuters. There were some who didn’t appreciate his death, including 2/3 of Pakistani public, wait for it…Fidel Castro and Hamas.

Shocker.

1903 – Happy Birthday Dr. Spock.
……His book Common Sense Book of Baby and Child Care is one of the biggest selling books of all time. He urged parents to trust their common sense, be flexible, and refrain from using spanking or hitting children. In the 1940s he advocated circumcising baby boys within the first few days of birth, but then changed his mind in the late 80s. He also claimed that a baby sleeping on its back is more likely to die of SIDS (Sudden death infant syndrome) due to chocking on his/her vomit.

However empirical studies in the 1990s showed us that SIDS is significantly increased when babies are sleeping on their abdomens. Look I’m not a doctor, I have no idea. I sleep on my sides, personally. Spock was also a political activist who was accused of perpetuating the anti-Vietnam sentiment in America. R

egardless, Baby and Child Care has been published in 39 languages and sold over 50 million copies.

1964-The Card goes down.
…A Viet Cong frogman planted an explosive device in the USS Card, or the AVG-11 and blew a hole in the hull. Card settled in 20 feet was water, was patched and pumped out, and raised on the 19th of May, repaired and returned to service on December 11th.

She was active in WWII as a helicopter escort carrier, a utility carrier, and an aviation transport AKV-40. She’s won the Presidential Unit Citation, as well as three battle stars for service in WWII.

1740-Happy birthday Elias Boudinot.
…During the Revolution he was policitically active, later on he acted as president of the Continental Congress from 1782 to 1783. His wife’s brother, Richard Stockton, was one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence. When Congress was forced to evacuate Philadelphia in 1783, as a member of the College of New Jersey’s Board of Trustees, Boudinot arranged to have Congress temporarily meet in the school’s Nassau Hall in Princeton. He was appointed by President George Washington as Director f the US Mint, serving from 1795-1805.

1928-Billie Holiday is arrested
…at the age of fourteen for prostitution. Her mom was a hooker too by the way. Yes, Billie Holliday was a prostitute who charged $5 per client, but it was at that brothel that she heard the music of Louis Armstrong and Bessie Smith.
