Jan. 14 1798 – David Wilkinson of Rhode Island patents a nut & bolt machine. He would also create a lathe for cutting screw threads, which was really useful in the early 1800s.

Dec. 9 1906 — Happpy Birthday Walter Zinn. He is credited with initiating the world’s first self sustaining nuclear chain reation by withdrawing a control rod from the world’s first nuclear reactor in Chicago.
