1746 – Happy birthday The Chancellor. Robert R. Livingston
was an attorney, politician and diplomat from New York City who helped draft the Declaration of Independence and administered the presidential oath of office to George Washington. Livingston was born to a wealthy family in New York November 27, 1746 and later attended King’s College, now Columbia U. He was classmates and friends with John Jay when talks of a split from the British Crown began surfacing. He became a politician and helped draft the constitution for the state of New York, and represented the Provincial Congress of New York at the Continental Congress in 1776, thus earning the nickname, the Chancellor.

In the 1790s he split from the Federalist Party and ran against his former friend John Jay for New York governor in 1798, where Livingston would be defeated. Later he would assist James Monroe to acquire the Louisiana Purchase from Napoleon. He was a co-founder of Society for the Promotion of Agriculture, Arts, and Manufacturers. He died in New York at age 66.

1978 – Harvey Milk and George Moscone are gunned down. Two of the most respected and beloved civic leaders in San Francisco, Milk and Moscone served on the Board of Supervisors in the latte Milk was born in 1930 and made history when he became one of the first openly gay officials in the US. George Moscone was an Italian American Democratic Mayor of San Francisco. Dan White was a psycho who was bitter towards Moscone for not reappointing White to the city board. On November 27, White walked into the San Francisco government offices with a 38 revolver and shot them both dead. White was apprehended and in court pleaded what’s now infamously known as the Twinkie Defense.

Yup. He blamed his actions on too much junk food and depression for not having his old job. Somehow this defense worked to his advantage and his sentence was reduced to voluntary manslaughter instead of murder. Public outrage was so widespread that it led to the White Night Riots on May 21, which caused several hundreds of thousands of dollars in damage and a growing divide between the gay community and police.

1966—Washington Redskins beat the New York Giants 72-41 in what remains to be the highest scoring game in NFL history. 1963 – Wilt Chamberlain sets NBA record by making 18 field goals in a row.
1974 – Yankees manager George Steinbrenner is suspended for 2 years for illegal contributions to Richard Nixon.
